RULES FOR BIDDERS

1. Whilst every effort is made to ensure that the Auction List is correct, neither the Society nor the Auction Manager will be liable for any inaccuracies in Lot descriptions, etc.

2. Normal bidding advances are: 10p to £2; 25p to £5; 50p to £10; £1 to £30; £2 to £50; £5 thereafter, and always at the absolute discretion of the auctioneer.

3. From time to time, the Society conducts Room Auctions or Postal Auctions. Postal and email bids may be submitted for either type of Auction. In the event of identical bids, only the first bid received will be considered. At Room Auctions, postal and email bids will take preference over room bids.

4. It is necessary for successful bidders at this auction to be members of W.D.P.S. Non-members will be charged 10p for a one-day membership of the Society.

5. Bids will only be accepted from persons resident in the United Kingdom.

6. Bids are accepted or declined at the discretion of the auctioneer.

7. Cheques are to be made payable to W.D.P.S.

8. In the case of Room Auctions, all purchases by Floor Bidders must be paid for before Lots are removed from the Auction Room.

RULES FOR VENDORS

1. Vendors must be UK resident.

2. Auction Lot Lists and the Lots they describe must be submitted simultaneously to the Auction Manager.

3. The Lot List should be presented on the Form provided by W.D.P.S. or a good look-alike.

4. Lot descriptions should be one-liners. Exceptionally, a description may extend to two lines but definitely not more.

5. Every Lot must be in an unsealed protective see-through container. Exceptions are albums, catalogues and the like which, if offered in multiples, must be bound firmly together with strong elastic bands or cotton tape, or in a strong container.

6. Lot Numbers should be simple: 1, 2, 3, etc., without vendor initials, on labels affixed to the BACK of Lot containers.

7. There is no ‘No Reserve’. The minimum Reserve Price is £1.

8. The maximum number of Lots in any Auction will be 300. The principle of ‘first come, first served’ will be applied at all times. Vending will close when 300 Lots have been accepted, or no later than 6 WEEKS before the Auction date (because preparation of the Catalogue must start 6 weeks before the auction).

9. A Vendor offering Lots that could cause the number of lots to exceed 300 will be invited to combine or withdraw Lots of his/her choice to avoid contravening Rule 8.

10. The Auction Manager reserves the right to refuse any Lot(s) which he deems unsuitable for any reason whatsoever for inclusion in the auction.

11. A Commission of 10% of realisation or 10p, whichever is greater, will be levied on each Lot sold. A levy of 10p will be charged on each unsold Lot, as a contribution towards the cost of including the Lot in the Catalogue.
